Carimbos: Passo-a-passo/ Stamps: step-by-step

Como prometido (mencionado no post Faça-você-mesmo: Carimbos), segue um passo-a-passo de como fazer seu próprio carimbo em casa. Espero que gostem, pois é o passo-a-passo mais detalhado com figuras que fiz até então 🙂

Estarei ensinando tanto como fazer um carimbo, como fazer uma almofada de carimbo, que serve para você colocar a tinta para o carimbo. Essa almofada você encontra facilmente em papelarias, mas aqui ensinarei um jeito que aprendi [link] que é prático, simples e não custa caro.

As promised (as mentioned in DIY: Stamps) here is the step-by-step for making your own stamp at home. I hope you like it, ‘cause it’s the most detailed step-by-step with pictures I’ve made so far 🙂

I will be teaching both how to make a stamp and a stamp pad, which purpose is to add ink to a stamp. This stamp pad you can easily find in stationary stores, but here I will teach the way I learned through here, which is a practical, easy and inexpensive way to make one.

Materiais necessários:

_1 borracha. – Daquelas que você encontra em papelarias e supermercados, para apagar rasuras. Quanto maior e mais espesso, melhor será para a base do carimbo.

 Necessary materials:

_1 eraser. – The type you can find at stationary stores, supermarkets, to erase mistakes. The bigger and thicker, the better to serve as a base for the stamp.

_1 Estilete

_Caneta ou lápis

_Tinta acrílica

_Pedaço de feltro

_Pote, prato ou uma tampa plástica que servirá para a base da almofada do carimbo. De preferência use algo descartável, pois irá sujar quando colocarmos tinta. No tutorial, utilizaram uma caixa acrílica de CD.

_Sal

_1 stylus

_Pen or pencil

_Acrylic paint

_Piece of felt

_A pot, plate or plastic cover that will serve as base for the stamp pad. Preferably, use something disposable, because it will get dirty when you add paint. In the tutorial, she used an acrylic CD casing.

_Salt

Segue o passo-a-passo para fazer o carimbo:

1) Na superfície da borracha, desenhe a imagem que quer replicar como carimbo. De início, escolha desenhos simples com poucos detalhes.

Step-by-step of making a stamp:

1) On the eraser’s surface, draw the image you want to replicate as a stamp. For starters, draw something simple with little details.

Se não se sentir confortável em desenhar, imprima o desenho, pinte toda a parte preta da impressão com lápis grafite. Posicione o lado que pintou sobre a borracha e esfregue o papel. Desta forma, você irá passar o desenho do papel para a borracha.

2) Ao redor da borracha trace uma linha que servirá como referência para a base do carimbo. Eu costumo marcar a linha 1/3 abaixo da superfície da borracha. Se você marcar muito para baixo, a base do carimbo ficará muito fina e difícil para segurar quando for usar o carimbo.

If you don’t feel comfortable on drawing, print the drawing, paint over the print with a pencil. Lay the drawing on the eraser, drawing downwards, and scrub the paper. This way, the drawing will be transferred to the eraser.

2) Around the eraser, trace a line which will work as reference for the base of the stamp. If you mark it too low, the base will be too thin and difficult to hold on to when you use the stamp.

3) Agora, começamos a parte de esculpir a borracha com o estilete. Retire os pedaços de borracha de pouquinho em pouquinho para evitar erros.

4) Retirado as partes externas e quaisquer partes internas do seu desenho, seu carimbo está pronto para ser utilizado!

3) Now begins the part of carving the eraser with the stylus. Take out small pieces at a time in order to avoid making mistakes.

4) Take out the outside parts and inside parts that will detail the drawing, and the stamp will be ready to be used!

Mas antes disso, você precisará colocar a tinta acrílica em uma superfície ou usar uma almofada para carimbo. A almofada é nada mais que a base onde se coloca a tinta para o seu carimbo. Tentei colocar tinta em um prato e de lá passar o carimbo em cima, mas desta forma vai muita tinta no carimbo e o desenho fica borrado e desforme. Dito isso, segue o passo-a-passo para fazer a almofada para o carimbo.

1) Na sua vasilha ou superfície plástica coloque a tinta acrílica. Coloque um pouco de sal na tinta e misture. (NOTA: o sal faz com que a tinta acrílica dissolva, ficando um pouco menos espesso, facilitando assim a aplicação no carimbo.)

But before that, you will need to add the acrylic paint on a surface or on a stamp pad. The pad is basically a base where you add paint to be able to use the stamp. I tried putting the paint on a plate and from there pass it on a stamp. But doing so too much paint is applied to the stamp and the drawing will come out blurred and disfigured. That said, here is the step-by-step to make a stamp pad.

1) In your bowl or plastic surface, add the acrylic paint. Add a dash of salt and mix. (Note: the salt allows the paint to dissolve, making it less thick and easier to apply to the stamp.)

Os pontos na tinta são de sal que adicionei à tinta.

2) Coloque o pedaço de feltro em cima da tinta e com uma espátula ou garfo plástico, aperte o feltro até que a tinta comece a aparecer.

2) Put the piece of felt over the paint and with a spatula or plastic fork, press down the felt until the paint starts to appear.

Usei uma faca plástica pra apertar o feltro na tinta.

E pronto! Sua almofada para o carimbo está pronta. Agora é só encostar o carimbo em cima do feltro, verificar que a tinta está em toda superfície do carimbo e aplicar o carimbo com um pouco de pressão sobre um papel.

And you’re done! Your stamp pad is ready to be used. Now, you just have to touch the stamp on the felt, check that the whole surface of the stamp has ink applied on it. Then, apply the stamp on a piece of paper with a bit of pressure.

LEMBRETE: Por ser um carimbo de borracha, ele é bastante sensível. Por isso, quando for limpar o carimbo, não esfregue-o ou lave. Passe em água corrente e com um algodão ou papel toalha, cuidadosamente seque a superfície da borracha.

Outra ideia bacana é usar os carimbos para criar estampas para tecido ou para papel de embrulho! Ainda pretendo testar os carimbos em tecido, e quando fizer compartilho aqui no blog. 😉

REMINDER: Because it is a stamp made out of an eraser, it’s very sensitive. That’s why when you clean the stamp don’t scrub it or wash it. Put it under water and carefully dry the surface with cotton or a paper towel.

Another cool idea is to use stamps to make prints for fabrics or wrapping paper! I am still planning on testing the stamps on cloth and when I do so I will share it with you guys here in the blog. 😉
