Projeto novo – fácil e baratinho/ New project – easy and cheap

O que fazer quando se está com muita vontade de fazer um projeto DIY (do-it-yourself) ou fazer uso do que aprendeu, mas não ter ideia aonde aplicar? Num desses momentos que queria fazer uso dos carimbos que fiz, tive a brilhante ideia de fazer panos de prato (ou pano de cozinha) xD

É muito simples de fazer, o custo é baixíssimo (principalmente pra quem já tem todos os outros materiais como tinta para tecido e pincéis), é algo que sempre precisamos em casa e um ótimo presente para dar para alguém!

What to do when you really want to do a DIY Project or make use of what you’ve learned, but no place to apply it to? In one of these moments, I wanted to make use of the stamps I made and had the brilliant idea to make tea towels (or kitchen towels) xD

It’s very simple to make, the cost is low (especially for those who already have all the materials such as fabric paint and brushes), it’s something we all need at home and a great gift for someone!

Encontrei o tecido para pano de prato em lojas que vendem coisas para artesanato. O preço por metro (tecido em rolo) varia entre R$6,00 e R$8,00 e para panos de prato já recortados e com borda costurada, o valor por pano varia entre R$3,50 a R$4,50. Eu preferi comprar por metro, que dá 2 panos de prato para cada metro.

Gostei muito desse projeto que mistura 3 atividades: costura (das barras), pintura com carimbos e pintura com estêncil. A costura das barras é bem simples: dobrei o tecido duas vezes dando uma borda de aproximadamente 1cm. O intuito da dobra é para o tecido não desfiar.

I found the fabric to make the teal towels at arts&crafts stores. The price per meter (fabric sold on roles) varies between R$6,00 and R$8,00, for already cut and sewn tea towels the price varies between R$3,50 and R$4,50. I chose to buy per meter, which I get 2 tea towels per meter.

I really like this project because it groups 3 activities: sewing (of the edges), painting with stamps and painting with stencil. Sewing of the edges is pretty simples: I folded the fabric twice so I had an edge of approximately 1cm. The point of the fold is so the fabric won’t shred after many use&wash.

A pintura com carimbos segui o Passo-a-Passo que postei usando meu carimbo e folha e utilizando tinta para tecido. Para a pintura com estêncil (também com tinta para tecido) segui esta publicação para colocar as palavras “cook”, “eat” e “drink”.

I really like this project because it groups 3 activities: sewing (of the edges), painting with stamps and painting with stencil. Sewing of the edges is pretty simples: I folded the fabric twice so I had an edge of approximately 1cm. The point of the fold is so the fabric won’t shred after many use&wash.

For the stamping, I used the leaf stamp I made following my step-by-step and fabric paint. For the stenciling (also using fabric paint) I followed this blog on how to add the words “cook”, “eat” and “drink”.

Nota: Lembre-se de após ter pintado o pano de prato e ter esperado a tinta secar, passar o ferro a seco no outro lado do tecido para fixar a tinta.

Depois de feita a arte e fixado a tinta, tcharan!!! Pano de prato para a minha mãe pronto! (Sim a foto tá péssima…eu sei ><)

Note: Remember that after painting the tea towel and letting the paint dry, iron dry the back side of the tea towel to set the paint.

And that’s it!!! The tea towel I made for my mom is ready! (Yes, the photo quality is horrible….i know ><)

Tive alguns borrados com o carimbo, mas acho (e espero!) que depois de muito praticar, eu tiro isso de letra! xD Por enquanto ainda estou à procura de um jeito eficiente de tirar ou esconder errinhos feitos com tinta de tecido. Até lá, os borrados serão o toque de algo feito personalizado e artesanalmente hehehe

O único comentário que a minha mãe disse foi que nos próximos talvez reduzir a pintura para somente nas bordas. Por quê? Quando o pano de prato ficar manchado de uso, na parte do meio do tecido podemos ainda colocar algum alvejante para limpar, sem estragar a pintura. 😉

O que você pintaria em um pano de prato? Quais estampas ou frases colocaria?

I had a couple of stains while using the stamp, but I think (and hope!) that after much practice I will ace this! xD For now I’m still looking for an efficient way to take off or hide my mistakes when using fabric cloth. ‘Till then, the stains will be just a reminder of something that was personalized and handmade hehehe

The only comment my mom made was to next time put the prints at the bottom and/or top of the towel. Why? Because if your towel gets stained from using it, you can still put some bleach in its midsection in order to remove the stain. And that way, you won’t ruin your artwork. 😉
